Merry Christmas: Santa Caught! and NORAD Santa Tracker

Are you tracking Santa today? He has already delivered presents to children in Japan and Indonesia. Find out where he is now by checking NORAD's Official Santa Tracker.

I won a free iCaughtSanta giveaway from Erin at Mom Buzz and we are prepared for tomorrow. You have to check it out - tomorrow morning my 5 year old will wake up and find this picture of Santa at our house giving him presents. (Don't let all the presents fool you - they are my sister's families presents - we hold them for her until Christmas Eve.) The picture turned out awesome and he is going to be thrilled to have proof that Santa was at his house. Thanks Erin!

One last thing - Christmas is a time to think about others. I want to share a post with you from Lisa at Crazy Adventures in Parenting called Good Will in a Box. Here is a portion of her plea:

"As I navigated the narrowed aisles in the PX, shopping for a leftover this or that to buy for the holiday, I felt broken. I felt off. This holiday, much like last years, felt all kinds-of wrong to me. Last year, though, it was trying to fit our circular family into this square post, quite unsuccessfully. Being new to town, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. It was a mess. Christmas was labored, as was our new life, as we struggled to find peace and normalcy in a foreign place.

This year, I'm no longer struggling to fit in here, I know we won't and we're doing a lot better with that knowledge. But the woes I'm experiencing this year are from my feeling inadequate, angry and resentful for being somewhat blind. I feel very, very ashamed by it.

The economy has really taken it's toll, and many more families in the blogosphere are suffering than I had thought. I had the chance to listen to some of the stories some of these ladies have to tell, what's really going on behind the scenes, and I felt downright heavy, with my heart full and weighted.

Lately, I had been griping about my children misbehaving and crumbs being left on the floor. What the hell is the matter with me? I was busy being bewildered by their childishness and lack-of-cleanliness, busy being angry and wondering, why were we buying new things for them to disrespect and not put away? Meanwhile, there are families going without, utilities being shut off, borrowing to purchase groceries, and what was I doing? Bickering over kids being kids and my possibly buying too much.

Guilt tastes pretty bitter, if you ask me. The acid in my stomach began eating me alive. Who had I become? I most certainly didn't see myself in a favorable light."

Please stop over to her blog and do whatever you can do to help. There are so many bloggers who are going through a tough time right now and could use some help. I know there is always someone worse off than I am and although I can not donate financially, I will donate my time to do whatever I can.

Mom of 2 Boys, Wife of 1 will be closed until January 1, 2010. From our family to yours, have a safe and Merry Christmas!

Dear Lisa

(This post is by Lisa's husband. I wanted to post a comment to her post below to me, but it was too long.)

I love you and I wish I could do something more for you too. I am just happy that I have you and your willingness to sacrifice so that I can finish school. Even more so I am thankful for your support through the hard times I have been going through lately. Thank you for pushing me to be a better person and not giving up on me. I would be completely lost without you. You are a better wife than I could ever have hoped for and I just want you to know that I love you and appreciate everything you do for me. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful family. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and as long as I have you I will have everything I need. Happy anniversary baby!

~Your husband

Dear James

Dear James,

I just wanted to take a minute to say, "I love you". Today is our 7th Anniversary - wow! I wish we had tons of money. I would have loved to buy you a gift - maybe a wedding band that fit? I would have loved to go out to dinner tonight and eat lobster or sushi with you. I would have loved to do anything special for you to show you how much I love you, but instead I dedicate this post, my love, friendship, faithfulness, and life to you.

Wordless Wednesday: My Secret Santa, Marshalls, and T.J. Maxx

This is not totally wordless, but I wanted to share pictures of my gifts I received from T.J. Maxx and Tanya from Mommy Goggles. I love it!
This year was the first year I have ever asked for jewelry. I particularly wanted necklaces and Tanya must have read my mind because she found the cutest necklace holder from T.J. Maxx and it is perfect. She also did a great job at picking out a gorgeous photo album for my special keepsake pictures. It's very elegant.

Did I mention I LOVE Jelly Belly Jelly Beans? Yummy.

I shopped at Marshalls for my secret santa recipient and had a blast. It is amazing how much you can find at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx for just $25. Thank you Victoria, Marshalls and T.J. Maxx for hosting this fun Secret Santa project. It was a blast.

T.J. Maxx and Marshalls are hosting a "Carol-oke" program at There you can view videos of people signing their favorite holiday carol to help raise money for Toys for Tots - there are a bunch of great videos there, check it out.

Holiday Gift Guide for Her: Sheer Cover Minerals Make Up

Mineral based make-up is all the rave right now. I think the reason is because it is more natural looking and the ingredients are so much less harmful to your skin. Recently I had the chance to compare Sheer Cover Minerals to Bare Minerals and I was pleasantly surprised.

Although the Bare Mineral make-up looked natural and hid a multitude of skin sin I felt like I had a layer cream on my face all day. I didn't think anything of it until I tried Sheer Cover Minerals. I received the Medium Kit which came with two mineral foundation tones, pocket duo kit, duo concealer, studio brush, moisturizer, cleanser, concealer brush, contour brush, mascara, sheer color compact (eyes, lips, cheek), tips/tricks DVD, and make-up case. All of this for only $29.95, with FREE SHIPPING! I priced a kit from Sephora that did not contain half as much product from Bare Minerals that cost $60.

From their site:
The secret to Sheer Cover® is an exclusive formula of light reflecting minerals that blend magically with your skin's natural oils for perfect coverage that's amazingly light. Sheer Cover® minerals are 100% natural, infused with skin soothing botanicals, natural sun protection, and anti-oxidant green tea to help protect your skin from the visible signs of premature aging.

  • Contains 100% pure minerals with NO oils, perfumes, dyes or talcs, so it's gentle and non-irritating - even for sensitive skin.
  • True Shade Technology™ ensures that the powders blend in with your skin tone for a perfect color match.
  • Feels light, allows the skin to breathe and goes beyond just covering up - it actually deflects light away from flaws.
  • Contains anti-oxidants designed to protect your skin from damaging free radicals.
  • Helps filter the sun's harmful rays and protect against the visible signs of premature aging with SPF 15.
I personally found Sheer Cover Minerals to be a lot lighter feeling on my skin then Bare Minerals and definitely more affordable. The only downside is that you cannot purchase it in the stores. You have to purchase Sheer Cover from their website at The advantage to that is you don't have to leave the house...

Want to try Sheer Cover Minerals for free? They are offering one of my readers a chance to win a starter kit - enter now!

One lucky winner will receive a starter kit from Sheer Cover Minerals. Mandatory Entry: Visit the Sheer Cover Minerals and tell me what shade you are. ***YOU MUST LEAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR FIRST COMMENT.***

Additional entries can be earned by (please leave separate comments):

Holiday Gift Guide for All: GlassesUSA w/Coupon Codes

When most online companies stop giving great discounts because it's Christmas, we're going over the top and offering three deals never before offered!

December 23: Take $25 off any order totaling over $80! Use code: almostxmas

December 24: Take $18 off any order totaling over $65! Use code: silentnight

December 25
: Take 25% off any order of eyeglasses! Use code: merryxmas

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

All my life I have had the standard pair of eye glasses with a wire frame, but I got the chance to try something fun from and couldn't believe the selection there was to choose from. I went with something fun, but functional and chose the Deb frames. (Note: they have changed from the pictures on the site, they are now all black). They sell for only $39! You just can't beat that. Do you like them?

All I had to do was pick out a pair and email or fax my prescription. That's it. In as little as a week I was wearing them! I still wear my old wire frames when I'm feeling frumpy, but for the most part these are the ones I prefer. I especially like the rectangular look and thick black arm stems. Also, they have a hinge on the arms that is a must-have for me with my kids always playing also carries men's frames and at the low price point their frames are at this would make for a great gift. I'd like to own a couple more pair (hint, hint). You can find a lot of different categories as well, such as:
  1. Full Frames
  2. Semi-Rimless Eyeglasses
  3. Rimless Eyeglasses
  4. Classic Frames
  5. Progressive Lenses
  6. Retro Frames
  7. Flexible Eyeglasses
  8. Fashion
You can even become a fan of GlassesUSA on Facebook:

Or follow them on twitter: @GlassesUSA

Disclosure: I received a pair of glasses for the purpose of writing this post from GlassesUSA. The opinions in this post are 100% my own.

(CLOSED)Live Giveaway: My Son is the Old El Paso El Tacodor

(I just had to double check and make sure it really was unlimited entries for toppings)
Got to have guac!
mysbc27-web @ yahoo dot com

If I do not hear back by 4 pm a new winner will be drawn, thanks!

My family loves tacos. What family doesn't? It gives my kids a chance to make their own food - they get to pick what goes into the shell and they love that responsibility. We try to have tacos once a week. I had a lot of pictures to accompany this post that were so darn cute, but unfortunately my husband erased them accidentally.

Old El Paso has come up with the funnest game to play with the family while eating tacos. The winner is the El Tacodor. You are presented with different challenges and if you complete the challenge you get to add an ingredient to your taco. My youngest son was really good at the game (with our help) and he won.

(imagine this is the picture of him looking proudly into the camera while holding his certificate of achievement declaring himself the El Tacodor)

Some examples of the challenges include:

  • Crunch Time: Name at least 10 animated movies within 1 minute
  • Meat-N-Greet: Name 5 things that you’d bring home from your favorite vacation place and let the table guess where you traveled

  • Lettuce Play: Act out different animals – no noises! Your partner must guess 3

  • Lime Light: Cheer, “We love tacos, yes we do! We love tacos, how ‘bout you?”

  • Say Cheese: Pronounce the name of everyone at the table backwards!
We are going to do a LIVE GIVEAWAY for you to win a $10 GC to buy some meat and two (2) coupons for FREE Old El Paso products so that you can play El Tacodor at home!

To enter check out the El Tacodor site and enter to win $5,000. Leave a comment here that you entered. For additional UNLIMITED entries tell me what your favorite taco toppings creative.

PLEASE leave your email address in your comment. I do not have any other way to contact the winner. I will draw a winner randomly from all comments at 3 pm today. Winner must answer the email with their shipping information by 4 pm today.

This opportunity was made possible by My Blog Spark and Old El Paso. We received a prize pack as a thank you for this post.

Holiday Gift Guide for Kids: My Baby First Steps Wii and DS

If you have a young daughter or son they will enjoy playing My Baby First Steps for hours!

From their site:

Your baby has grown so fast! Can you believe that a year has already gone by? Take care of your baby from their 1st birthday until they're 3 years old. Your baby will discover its entire environment and learn from it, they'll walk, babble and speak, try to catch every object they can, and put everything in their mouth... Your baby will be the apple of your eye!

  • Your baby looks more lifelike than ever with brand new 3D animations and reactions
  • Make sure that your baby has the latest trends with even more items; customize your furniture, clothes, and hair just to name a few...
  • With a new and improved AI your baby will react as if they were in the room with you
  • Innovative gameplay that is based on stylus, touch pad, voice recognition, and the microphone - not a compilation of mini-games
  • Interact with your baby whenever you want and experience real baby-like reactions
  • Watch your baby grow from both a physical and psychological point of view
I think the thing I liked best is watching my son nurture his baby. I think this is a good tool to help him groom those skills. My husband was hesitant at first about letting him play, but he has come around and has actually played it with him a couple times. I'm not sure if it is me but I had a difficult time understanding my toddler. However, the baby talk in the game was easy for my son to understand. Have a girl? She'll be a natural at this game.

If you get a chance you can look at My Baby Village - it is an interactive web site that compliments the game and it is full of valuable tools for children and parents. There is even a mini-game for you to try. You can find My Baby First Steps at, Walmart, and Toys R Us to name a few places for around $29.99.

Small Talk Six: Spending Time with my Relatives

It's Saturday and I thought I would try out the Small Talk Six idea that Trisha from MomDot came up with. The topic today is "6 things you love or hate about spending time with your or your significant other’s relatives." Now, I had originally chose my in-laws to write about because I thought it would make for a more interesting post, but I was afraid someone in his family might find my blog and I just didn't want the drama.

Here are the 6 things I love about spending time with my relatives:

1. Laughing (beware: Milk sometimes comes out of our noses.)
2. Teasing (okay, yes, I did try to choke to death on my own hair when I was little to get attention)
3. Reminiscing (the hair pulling fight between my sister and my mom is always brought up because I had to play parent and I sent my mom to her room while I chilled my sister out)
4. Shopping (my mom is a shopaholic)
5. Love

My mom and sister both live far away so our time together doesn't happen that often (maybe once every 4 years or so). I miss them and I miss our time together.

Staples and TwitterMoms: Holiday Tips for Saving Money & Time

TwitterMoms and Staples are working on a great campaign together featuring holiday tips for saving time and money. Check out the widget on my left sidebar. As part of that campaign I wanted to offer this little advice:

1. Never throw away your smaller pieces of wrapping paper. You never know when you need a piece for "patching" or when you will need to wrap a smaller gift.

2. If you run out of wrapping paper and need a last minute idea try foil or a newspaper.

3. Stock up on gift wrap and tape after Christmas by taking advantage of the great sales and clearance items.

For all your wrapping needs and great gift ideas, please check out Staples Holiday Center. While you are there enter their Daily Tech Giveaway!

Holiday Gift Guide for Him: VTech BLUETOOTH Cordless Phones

I hate talking on the phone at home. I've gotten so spoiled with the cellphone's bluetooth capabilities. I can wash dishes with both hands and not have to hold a phone while I talk to my mom or friends. I can drive home from work and talk to my husband about my day without having to hold a phone. The down side to always using my cell phone in the house is that there are only a couple rooms where I have reception. We have had our home phone for 3 years now and I have probably only used it a handful of times.

Well, that has all changed now. V-Tech was kind enough to send me their new Bluetooth capable phones to review. VTech’s BLUETOOTH-enabled LS6245 and DS6321-3 cordless phone systems enable users to make and receive cellular calls using a cordless handset or use a BLUETOOTH headset to answer landline calls. I tested the phone similar to the Vtech Ds6322-3 and love it. I sync my cellphone with it when I get home - another bonus. Now, when my cellphone rings I can hear it anywhere in the house and since there are 3 phones (requiring only one phone jack) I can pick it up in almost any room. Did I mention I set the phone up to have a different ring for each line? You can do that with this phone. We have 4 different ring tones: my cell, my son's cell, my husband's cell, and the landline.

Check out this video, it probably explains how the phones work better than I'm able to:
You can follow V-tech on twitter: @Vtech411 -- Let them know you saw their review here and tell them what you think about their new phones! They would love to hear from you....
