Guess What? Cereal and Laptops Don't Mix
The news? My son came to me this morning, "Mommy, I'm sorry. I accidentally spilled my cereal on your computer." I'm not sure how I did it, but I didn't yell and I calmly walked into the kitchen where my laptop was to see the damage. However, there was nothing to see because my 5 year old cleaned it up before I got there.
Needless to say, I am without a laptop now and won't have the money for another until late September - please be patient with me....I'm about to have a nervous breakdown.

Wordless Wednesday: A Mother's Tears, First Day of Kindergarten
Monday was the first day of school. My son, who was so excited about going to "Big Boy School" all of a sudden turned into the little boy that had been missing all summer...

he was full of dread about leaving momma and was so scared to ride the bus....
never in my life did I feel so helpless...and I cried.

Starting a New Job...
As some of you already know my degree is in Psychology and Business Management and today I am going to put my degree to work. I'm starting a new FT job as an Human Resource Generalist for a local company. My focus will be project based: training/development, affirmative action officer, policy/procedure and other tasks such as developing an employee handbook, etc. I'm excited - but I'm also a bit nervous.
I plan on keeping up with my blog and I'm working lots of hours on The Product Review Place as well. I know I can do it because honestly, I love blogging and PR. I hope to make it my FT career some day. So, any advice on how to work FT, outside the home and maintain both sites?

Back-to-School: Sonic Boom Alarm Clock Review & Giveaway
School starts Monday and I'm starting a new job. If it weren't for the Sonic BombAlarm Clock, I would be somewhat nervous about it because my teenage son isn't the easiest person to wake up and I won't be here to do it. Sonic Alert has designed a line of alarm clocks for boys and girls that feature extra loud (113db) adjustable tone & volume, flashing lights, and a powerful 12-volt bed shaker. We have been using it for a week now to test it and there is no way he will ever miss the bus with this alarm clock. The bedshaker is pretty amazing. I wish I had owned this when I was married to his father - that man slept like the dead (but that is another post for another time).
The Sonic Bomb alarm clock is perfect for guys and comes in stealth grey with red controls and pulsing lights. The Sweetheart is the ladies version in hot pink with a multi-color display. They each sell for $42.95 (MSRP) and can be purchased from their site here or from Amazon.com here
Sonic Alert has offered to give one of my blog followers their very own Sonic Boom - either the Sonic Bomb or Sonic Sweetheart (pictured below).
THE GIVEAWAY: Visit Sonic Alert and tell me something that wasn't mentioned in this post. Leave a comment below with your contact information.

PBS Kids: Sid the Science Kid & Dive Olly Dive DVD Review & Giveaway
If you have a young child, you probably are already familiar with "Sid the Science Kid". You can find him on PBS every morning. Did you know that the Emmy-nominated PBS series is produced by The Jim Henson Company and KCET-LAHe? I didn't. Distributed by NCircle Entertainment, the newly released DVD, The Bug Club, features 4-half hour episodes for two hours of viewing pleasure. Also recently released was Change Happens.
Sid is an inquisitive child who begins every show with a question, such as"Why do dogs bark?" and the rest of the episode is filled with an educational adventure to answer the question. My 5 year old is a huge PBS Kids and PBS Sprout fan, so I have seen every episode. We can't wait until September for the release of 5 new episodes. You should try to catch it!

We haven't caught "Dive Olly Dive" so we were excited to review Ship Shape Sub. It's the cutest show about a little sub named Olly and his friend, Beth. They are submarines-in-training who teach interesting and educational facts about ocean life and lessons on life, as well. You can find Olly on PBS Sprout.
All three DVDs were a hit with my 5 year old - his favorite? Change Happens
Where do you purchase these great DVDs? You can purchase them at most retailers, directly through NCircle Entertainment or online at Amazon.com
for $12.99 (MSRP)...or you can win all 3 here!
THE GIVEAWAY: Visit Sid the Science Kid and tell me what time he is on where you live. Leave a comment below with your contact information.

Twitter Party: The Product Review Place (PRIZES)
It's official, we're having a party and you are invited! The Product Review Place has launched and we want you to help us spread the word. The site is run by Stacie from Divine Miss Mommy and me.We started it just over a month ago with three ideas in mind:
1. A place for consumers to find product reviews all in one place.
2. A place for bloggers to get added exposure for their reviews and because they put snippets up on the site, it should give click-thru to their blogs. It is also a place to learn about reviews and find pitches from companies/PR that need reviewers.
3. A place for companies and PR people to find reviewers who specialize in their products and a place to post pitches.
Since that time we have had over 300 companies, PR, bloggers, and consumers join us. Now it is time to celebrate so join @StacieinAtlanta, @lisasamples, and @ThePRPlace on August 15th at 9 pm EST while we give back to you with nearly a $1,000 in prizes!

We will also have a special PR guest @happySquid at the party to answer any of your PR related questions. Have you ever wondered what PR looks for in a review? Are stats really important? All these questions and more will be answered!
We owe a big THANK YOU to our sponsors: PUR Water Filtration Systems, Educator.com, Organic Beginings, Gold-in-Lites Candles, and all the many bloggers who have spent hour filling the site with content. Be sure to send out invites (via the site) to all your friends!
To be eligible to win:
Please join The Product Review Place and take a look around. Once you have joined sign the linky at the top of this post in green with your twitter name - all prizes will be drawn from Random.org from the linky at the beginning of this post and membership will be verified. If you spread the word and add our button to your blog please leave a comment below. Those who add our button (here) and let us know where we can find it will get 10 entries into any giveaways found here or on The Divine Miss Mommy (and she is giving away a COACH wallet). Back-to-School: LapWorks Gamer's Desk Review & Giveaway
The Futura Gamer's Desk has three parts that easily connect or disconnect from the main piece. Don't be timid snapping the pieces together - this desk is tough and it is made out of really tough material. I love the MaxMouzPad. It is large enough to use freely without having to reposition your mouse over and over. However, if not supported on your leg or by a pillow it feels a bit flimsy. Another great selling point is that when you aren't using the Gamer's Desk, it folds in half for easy storage.
The idea behind the LapWorks Gamer's Desk is that it is for gaming and can accommodate either a laptop or keyboard. It has built in notches to hold cords and it is large enough to hold whatever accessories you need for gaming. Although it is great for gaming, I believe it is useful for bloggers or students who use their laptops while sitting on the couch or propped up in bed. I use it every night.
This is what you will win:
Futura Gamer's Desk w/Regular MouzPad and Max MouzPad
Item # GDFU-MXMZPD-MZPD (MSRP $54.95)
* Game anywhere! Leave your desk behind
* Wide platform secures notebook or keyboard with mouse
* Great for MMOs or FPS gaming
* Perfect for WoW keyboard and mouse warriors
* Giant 9"x11" mousing area with the Max MouzPad attached
* Gripping pads keep your laptop stable for precision gaming!
* 30-1/4" wide gaming lapdesk with both MouzPads attached
* Legs relax naturally without squeezing them together
* Reduces heat build-up in your notebook by 15% to 20%
* Ventilation slots provide cooling and structural support
* Converts into an ergonomic desk stand with 5 typing angles
* Folds in half for portability and easy storage

Back-To-School With GoPicnic Review & Giveaway
The meals come in cute little boxes that open up into a little picnic. Kids love it and adults do too. This is the perfect answer for people like me who hate to take breaks from their busy schedule. I'm starting a new job in a couple weeks and plan on keeping a few of these meals (that don't have to be refrigerated) in my desk. Here are some of the meals I tried:
Mighty Munch Meals:
Safari Munch
Chips, Salsa & Crunch!
Vegetarian, Halal, Gluten-free, Soy-Free, Egg-Free, Fish & Shellfish-Free
Includes Salba Smart organic tortilla chips, Ortega mild salsa, Sheffa zesty snack mix, Mrs. May's sunflower seed crunch, Sweet Perry Orchards natural strawberry applesauce, and Enjoy Life snickerdoodle cookies.
Only $5.99!
My 5 year old son at this one for lunch one day last week. He loves the idea that these come in a little box, just for him. The salsa was the perfect bit of spice for a little one and the applesauce was super yummy (his words). I ate the sunflower seed crunch and it was good too.
Go Meals:
GoEnergy
Hummus & Crackers
With 23g of protein and 12g of dietary fiber! No egg, fish or shellfish ingredients.
Includes Wild Garden hummus dip, Pita Break flax & honey lavash crackers, Seapoint Farms dry roasted edamame, Mariani dried cranberries, and an Almond Roca toffee candy.
Only $4.99!
I absolutely LOVED the Seapoint Farms dry roasted edamame. The Wild Garden hummus dip was very lemony and I just didn't care for it. All the other stuff was pretty good - especially the Almond Roco toffee candy.
GoDeli
Salami & Cheese
One of our most popular meals! Contains no fish or shellfish ingredients.
Includes Old Wisconsin beef salami slices, Copper Cowbell Asiago cheese spread, Late July classic rich organic crackers, Mariani Ultimate apricots, and a Brent & Sam's soft & chewy chocolate chip cookie.
Only $4.99!
The only thing missing was a full-size napkin, otherwise this is perfect for those days when you just don't have time to leave your desk for lunch. The apricots are moist and flavorful and I love Asiago cheese.
Break Meals:
ZestyBreak
Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese
Contains 13g of dietary fiber & 32g of protein! No Fish & Shellfish ingredients.
Only $6.99!
