Disney on Ice: Coming Soon To A Location Near You

As many of you know my family recently had the opportunity to see Disney on Ice in Atlanta, thanks to Mom Central. At 4 pm the day of the show my 16 year old son called and asked if he could stay after school with his friends, but I told him no. Needless to say he was pretty bummed out. However on our way home after the show I asked everyone what they thought and he was the first one to pipe in, "I think I liked it more than anyone, even James (his 5 y/o brother)." Yep, my older son sang his brains out through the show because he was raised a Disney kid. Here is a picture of his favorite character of the night:

I brought my two boys (please excuse my strange teen's facial expression) and my niece and nephew. We took tons of pictures and video. We did not buy any souvenirs though - the prices were a bit steep. A program with a paper party horn was $15 and a snow cone in a souvenir cup was $15. The cotton candy with a Flounder hat was $10 - the most reasonably priced item, in my opinion. I'm a bit cheap when it comes to things like that...
They featured a clip from Disney's new movie The Princess and the Frog before the show started. It looked cute.
My favorite part of the evening? Goofy Santa!

If you get a chance to check out Disney on Ice in your area, I highly encourage it. It was an awesome show and well worth the price of a ticket. I hope Disney will include our family again on upcoming shows/events - they are always so much fun.

CRUMBS Bake Shop CUPCAKES Review and Coupon Code

I got this box delivered from FedEx and inside was the most incredible thing I have ever seen! Apparently there is a company out there who has found my weakness....

CUPCAKES!

Behold, these are no ordinary cupcakes. These are huge, moist and incredibly YUMMY cupcakes! They come from a company called CRUMBS Bake Shop. They have locations on both the West Coast and the East Coast. However, if you can't find one near you, they also have an option to order online for shipping. They come in three sizes: taste (for a taste), classic (regular cupcake size), or Signature (a HUGE 6 oz. dream come true size). I was sent the Signature sized cupcakes and they were nearly 4 inches tall!

I was sent the Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Cup, Oreo, Squiggle, Devil's Food, and Cookie Dough cupcakes, otherwise known as the Best Seller Collection ($27.00). The 6 moist, yummy cupcakes fed ten of us with nothing left but CRUMBS. It is no wonder how they came up with their name. This is the perfect treat for your next party - it will feed a large family and you can choose from over 35 different products so everyone will be satisfied.

You are jealous, aren't you? Well, don't be. CRUMBS has offered a coupon code for my blog followers so that you could try these yourself! To get 15% off your order use Coupon Code: HSBLG15. The code is good until October 31st.

My favorite? The Squiggle cupcake reminded me of a gourmet Hostess cupcake and was stuffed with the white filling, but Red Velvet took the (cup)cake. It was super moist and really flavorful. My husband is a huge Reeses fan and he loved the Peanut Butter Cup. My two sons liked the Cookie Dough and Oreo cupcakes the best.

So, are you jealous?
Disclosure: I was sent cupcakes but this review was my choice. Danielle, you rock!

I Have A Hot Heart - EdenFantasys.com Giveaway

I was at my nephews house the other night and his wife showed me the coolest thing I have ever seen...well, maybe not cool. More like hot. It was "The Amazing Hot Heart Massager" by Lover's Choice.

1. Instant heat (hot heat) exactly when you need it without having to warm it up.

4. It is great for easy pain caused by monthly visits from unwanted (and sometimes wanted) "friends".

Well, Unilever sent me samples of some of their products and I wanted to tell you a bit about them. First, I received some Pond's Clean Sweep make-up removing towelettes. I've been using them every day and have to say, they remove waterproof eye makeup without the slightest irritation. I love the new look of the Q-tip Vanity Packs, if you haven't seen them you should really check them out. I also received Dove shampoo and condition in the new scent go Fresh Therapy Energize line. I love the energizing smell when I have to get in the shower every morning at 6 am, it's motivating. Finally, the Vaseline I received I have been using on my cracked heels every night before bed and it has been a lifesaver.

CLOSED: Green Works Natural Laundry & Stain Remover Review & Giveaway

Congratulations Linda Kish - an email has been sent and if no reply within 48 hours a new winner will be drawn....
I recently got to try the Green Works line of Natural Laundry Detergent and Stain Remover and I wanted to share my experience with you. First, I have been making changes in my life to become more environmentally friendly. I have switched over to reusable grocery bags and I have been trying to find products that are natural. It is a conscious effort and it makes me feel good to share this with my family.

About a year ago I tried an all-natural laundry detergent (I won't name names) because I thought the chemicals and things added to normal detergents were not good for my youngest son's skin. However, it was a total flop. My son ended up breaking out and I went back to using a mainstream brand. This time, using the Green Works Natural Laundry Detergent was much more successful. Not only does it clean as well as any other brand, but my son has had no adverse reactions to the natural ingredients.

As far as the stain remover is concerned it has worked great for all my needs. Each day when James gets home from school his shirt has some sort of new stain. If it isn't paint from art class it is sauce from lunch. I have also used the stain remover on our new micro-fiber couch when our dog accidentally put his muddy paw on the cream couch.

Here is some information about Green Works:

"Green Works Natural Laundry Detergent is available in Original, Free & Clear and Lavender scents with a suggested retail price of $8.79 (45 oz, 30 loads) and $15.49 (90 oz, 60 loads). Green Works Natural Laundry Stain Remover is available in Original scent, with a suggested retail price of $3.69."

"All Green Works natural cleaners are made using plant-based ingredients. The products are formulated using biodegradable cleaning ingredients, are packaged in recyclable bottles and not tested on animals. Green Works Natural Laundry Detergent and Natural Laundry Stain Remover also feature the Sierra Club logo, marking the brand's financial commitment to support the organization's conservation efforts, including the protection of America's clean air, clean water, wildlife and special places."

You can learn more about Green Works here and here.

THE GIVEAWAY: Win your very own Green Works Natural Laundry kit. Mandatory Entry: Visit either of the links above and post something you learned about Green Works. Leave a comment below with your contact information.

Additional entries can be earned by (please leave separate comments):
2. Follow my blog or if you are already following - tell me who you are. (1 entry)
3. Blog about this and link back to me or email 5 friends about this giveaway copying me on the email. (5 entries)

5. Subscribe to my new email feed. (2 entries)
6. Connect via Facebook (bottom left sidebar). (2 entries)
7. Tell me what you are doing to go green. (1 entry)

This giveaway will end November 6th at 11:59 pm EST. Winner will be determined by Random.org and will have 48 hours to send contact information to lisa(dot)samples@gmail.com. It is mandatory to leave your email address in your first comment because I need to be able to contact you. US entries only.

Disclosure: This opportunity was made possible by Clorox and I received a sample to review. My opinion is just that - my honest opinion.

Our Three (3) Valid Tips for Getting Dinner Ready in a Flash

When asked: "With our Busy Schedules, What Are Your 3 Valid Tips for Getting Dinner Ready in a Flash?" by TwitterMom's newest Samsung Contest the answer was quite simple.

1.) Prep over the weekend. On Sunday I plan my menu for the week and do all my grocery shopping. I chop all my veggies, etc. that I need through out the week and I marinate any meats that require marinating.
2.) Before changing out of your clothes, preheat the oven or grill. If you are going to be boiling, start the water before you start anything else.
3.) Always make enough for leftovers any time you get the chance and freeze them for a future quick meal.

I would love to know what others do to save time. If you decide to join this contest, please leave a link to your post. Oh, did I fail to tell you what you can win from Samsung Home Appliances? Check this out:

Giving Back: Mom of 2 Boys, Wife of 1 and ConAgra Foods Donates $500 to Atlanta Community Food Bank

I recently had the chance to work on a project with ConAgra Foods - you might know them from labels such as Hunts, Banquet, Marie Callender's, Chef Boyardee, and Orville Redenbacher. Because giving back to the community is important to both ConAgra Foods and Mom of 2 Boys, Wife of 1 a donation to the Atlanta Community Food Bank of $500 was given in my name. I was also given a bunch of coupons for free products (like those pictured below) and was thrilled to be able to donate them all to local flood victims this past month.

I encourage all bloggers to give back to your communities whenever you have the chance. Here is what the Development Director had to say:

Lisa and Candy (ConAgra Foods),
Thank you so much for your generosity! We're so honored to be chosen by you and Conagra. Demand for food assistance is at some of the highest levels we've seen in our 30 year history and this gift will make an incredible difference. Conagra is a national partner in the fight against hunger, and Lisa, you have helped the Atlanta Community Food Bank serve more than 800 local, grassroots organizations feed more people in need. This gift will help provide 1,500 meals to those in need. Thank you so much and please let me know if you ever have any questions.

Development Director
Atlanta Community Food Bank
732 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
404-892-3333 x1217 Fax: 678-553-5961

Working with great companies such as ConAgra Foods and getting emails such as the one from Atlanta Community Food Bank not only sets a great example for my children, but makes me feel great that 1,500 people in my community went to sleep with a full belly.

Thank you ConAgra Foods for such a wonderful opportunity.

Green Cleaning Tool of the Future: Activeion Pro Review

I thought I would share with you a new, futuristic way of cleaning. It is simple, safe, and sustainable. It's called Activeion Pro. I'm not totally sure how it works, but I know that it is the most environmentally safe cleaning solution I have ever used. I also know that when I run out of cleaning solution I have no worries because I have a lot more and it is free...it's water! Yep, the water is electrically charged with the Activeion Pro and it sanitizes by eliminating 99.9% of harmful bacteria.

My most favorite thing about the product is that it works incredibly well. I used it to clean my microwave by simply spraying the water on and wiping it out with paper towels. It was truly amazing. Check out my video on how easy it was to clean my stove...

The pros:
1. You never have to buy cleaning solutions again.
2. It holds a charge forever. I charged mine when I got it 3 months ago and I have not had to charge it since, even though I use it everyday.
3. It is durable and should last for a long time.
4. It is green and safe for the environment.
5. It is safe around pets and children and can be sprayed directly on skin with no harmful effects.

The cons:
1. The price point is high at $299, but if you take in consideration the money you save from having to buy cleaning products it is worth it.
2. A tad heavier than a normal cleaning solution bottle.

For more information on the Activeion sustainability, please read this.

Disclosure: I was given an Activeion Pro in order to do this review. The opinion is my true, honest opinion regardless.

Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture Review

I've been using Dove products ever since I was a little girl. I remember my grandmother always smelled like the Dove bar she always had in her claw-foot tub and even today the smell reminds me of her. With my dry skin it is important that I use products that moisturize and Dove's new line, the NutriumMoisture line, ensures that I stay that way.

Have you ever taken a shower with a moisture body wash and felt great after the shower only to develop ashie (or ashey) skin a couple hours later? Well, the picture above shows you why that happens. Other moisturizers stay on the surface of the skin and fail to penetrate like Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture. If you get a chance to try it, you should. It is sold in most grocery, drug, and discount stores.

To learn more you can check out Dove's website here. From their site:

NEW Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture™:

• Repairs and maintains skin’s protective layer during cleansing

• Unlike moisturizers in other body washes, Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture™ penetrates
surface skin deep down to replenish and nourish

• Clinically proven to significantly reduce dryness and improve moisturization

• Available in Deep Moisture, Sensitive Skin and Gentle Exfoliating

The 3 formulas: sensitive skin, gentle exfoliating, and deep moisture (my fav).

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Dove. I was given body wash to review for this post.

UnitedHealthcare StudentResources: Insurance Option for your Uninsured Child

Kids will be kids...that is why UnitedHealthcare offers StudentResources, an affordable health plan for uninsured children. As the new school year starts and while health care reform is battled out in our legislation this is a great resource for many families.

Some Key Benefits of UnitedHealthcare StudentResources include:

• The health plan offers protection/coverage for injury AND sickness, 24/7/365.
UHCSR's program is only available through many participating school districts and participating private schools. Nationally available through schools that belong to the Association of Christian Schools International.
• The Health Plan is available to K12 students from ages 5 - 18 (ages 4-18 in Texas)
• Designed to be affordable at $588 per policy year or $98 every two months. Parents can enroll their student at any point in the school year.

To find out if your child's school district offers insurance in your area click here. The site also offers answers to the most frequently asked questions.

Although my children are now covered under my employer's health insurance, we did utilize this plan in the past. Luckily we never needed to file a claim, but the piece of mind of being covered was always reassuring.

Disclosure: This is a paid post, but it is also my honest opinion.
