What Are You Thankful For?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Although we should always acknowledge what we are thankful for, Thanksgiving is the day we share it with our family and friends. Today I want to share with you a couple things/people that I am thankful for:

1. My wonderful husband and best friend, James
2. My incredible children
3. My Mom, Dad, and Sister
4. My friend and "sister" Debbie and her family (I'm also thankful that Deb and I are going to Country Inns and Suites for a woman's retreat this weekend to recuperate from the crazy day today!)
5. My blog readers and fellow bloggers
6. My health and the health of everyone I care for (including you if you are reading this)

I could list a million other things - but wanted to keep it simple. Thank you for coming here to see what I have to say - you are very special to me. I hope that you will leave a comment to let me know you stopped by and if you like, let me know what you are thankful for?

Holiday Gift Guide for Him and the Kids: Bachmann Trains

I don't think it would be Christmas at my house without someone having a train set on their list. From the time my oldest son was able to walk trains and Christmas just went hand-in-hand. This year Bachmann Trains has some pretty incredible trains. We received the Thomas train a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to stop playing with it since.

The Bachmann Trains Deluxe Thomas and Friends Special Ready-to-Run HO Train Set
features Thomas, Harold the Helicopter, Bertie the Bus, Sir Topham Hat, 16 pc. track, conductor, power pack, and more. HO Scale by Bachmann (MSRP $144.99) on Amazon.com for$72.27 as of right now.

For a more traditional holiday train set you can try the
Bachmann Trains Yuletide Special Ready-to-Run HO Scale Train Set
.

For the older train enthusiast you can find the Santa Fe Flyer.

Start a tradition with your family.

Holiday Gift Guide for Her: Sucre (To Die for Chocolates + More)

On the top of my wish list is...

It is the closet thing I have ever had to a sexual experience, without my husband. Yes, I did just type that...

In this box was the most incredible chocolates made by Sucre from New Orleans. From their Sugar & Spice Holiday Collection these beautiful hand-painted chocolates are a collection of delicious gingerbread, candy cane and eggnog chocolates. My favorite were the gingerbread ones. (6 pc. $12)

Although the chocolates are a bit pricey, they are worth every single penny. I could never understand how someone could pay that much for "candy" but this is more than candy - this is an experience. I would not hesitate for a minute to purchase anything from their product line: confections, chocolates, and macaroons.

I also tried their dark chocolate with candied violets - speechless. The chocolate, although dark, was not bitter like other brands. There was no chemical after taste either - it was just pure ecstasy.

If you would like my shipping address, please let me know. This would be the perfect gift for me!

Holiday Gift Guide for the Kids: K'nex Building Sets

I think every little boy enjoys K'nex. It is a "can't miss" gift for the holiday season of 2009. My boys (ages 5 and 16) especially love building trucks to crash. The building possibilities are endless and provide lots of Mommy Time for me (just sayin').

This year the Knex Value Tub 400 pieces is particularly hot. For ages 7 and above children can use their imagination to build everything from airplanes to tractors. You can find this in most major stores and online at Amazon.

However, if you have a younger child you might be interested in the Sesame Street K'nex Sets for children age 2 - 7. Collect all your favorite Sesame Street characters such as Elmo, Ernie, Cookie Monster, and Grover. Your younger child will love building their Sesame Street neighborhood and friends.

Contest
You can win $1,000 worth of K'nex and be featured on their site by entering their most recent contest. All you have to do is make a video featuring your children playing with their K'nex, but be creative and use your imagination. The best 10 videos will be featured and the winning videographer will receive $1,000 worth of K'nex Building Sets. The complete details can be found on their website. The contest ends 12/7/2009.

Disclosure: Thank you to K'nex and Team Mom for giving our home some K'nex of our own to use for this review. Our opinion, however, was not influenced...

Mrs Prindable's Ornamental Wreath Apple Dessert for Thanksgiving

Every year I host Thanksgiving at my home. I love to cook. I'm pretty good at it too. However, I'm not a baker. I have been known to throw pie crusts across the room while yelling expletives, therefore I wanted to tell you about Mrs. Prindable's Handmade Confections. If you are coming to my home for Thanksgiving Dinner, please bring me the following hostess gift: Autumn Wreath Jumbo Apple.

My family got to try one last week and it was a huge (no pun intended) hit! My kids loved it and so did the adults. The packaging was very elegant. It arrived in excellent condition and was shipped/received quickly. (If you order yours now you will get it in time for Thanksgiving.)

The Granny Smith apple was the biggest I had ever seen and as juicy as you could imagine (or maybe my mouth was just watering with anticipation). Anyway, the apple was covered with rich caramel, chunks of dark and milk chocolate, almonds, and peanut butter chips.
The price point was very good - for the decorative centerpiece the price is $26.95 - not at all bad for an edible centerpiece. Our apple fed 6 of us with enough leftover to eat more the next day (and we did). I think it weighed in at just over 1.4 lbs! Be the hit of the party and bring one of Mrs. Prindable's apples or gift baskets this holiday season!

Doesn't it look delicious?

Holiday Gift Guide for the Kids: Zhu Zhu Pets - 2 LIVE Giveaways! (CLOSED)

They are the talk of the holiday season! Zhu Zhu Pets are all the rage, but you can't find them anywhere! My 5 year old son loves the hamsters and they rank in his Top 3. These little pets are sold individually from their humongous hamster city and come in a variety of colors from pink, tan, white, yellow, and more. Each pet hamster has it's own personality and whimsical sounds. If you push it's back it will explore across the floor or inside it's habitat. If you push their little nose they will make little sounds and chatter.

You can purchase Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster Pipsqueek - Yellow on Amazon.com for just under $50 right now and I have 2 (one yellow and one white) to giveaway to two lucky readers in a LIVE GIVEAWAY!

Rules:
You can enter as many times as you like. Your first comment has to be about Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters - which one is your favorite? Additional comments (as many as you like to enter) must relate to Zhu Zhu Pets, the holidays, or my blog. All comments must be at least 4 words - no "pick me" type of comments please.

Comment number 500 (Congrats @RantRaveRoll) will win their choice of color. Once we reach 1,000 of comments a second winner will be chosen randomly out of all entries. Congrats to
Jen Rowe
LOL Lisa that would be hilarious!!!!

I Imagine my hubby will want to play with one of these just as much as the kids.

(Last night I had a migraine and didn't realize the original winner did not follow the rules of the contest and they were disqualified. If you ever see me make a mistake please bring it to my attention privately - don't tweet it out for the world to see. I am approachable and I am human.)

Congrats winners!

Disclosure: This giveaway is compliments of MomSelect and ZhuZhu Pets. We had a Zhu Zhu Pets party this summer and these were the 2 left over hamsters.
