Palm Pre Plus: Email, Quick and Simple

I saved the best for last.  The email feature of my Palm Pre Plus has been a blessing.  I have four accounts that pour into my phone.  It is easy to use and just as easy to keep organized.  I can even flag the important emails to pull them up quickly. I can view various attachments such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  I never have to worry about missing an important opportunity or business deal.

Sending emails is just as easy.  I can choose which account the email comes from by touching the drop down menu.  To pick which contacts to send it to I just hit the little profile button next to the "To" field and all my contact email addresses pop up.  I can even set up my own personal signature line.

One thing I look for in a smartphone is it's ability to organize and the Palm Pre Plus exceeded my expectations, especially it's email function.  It supports various personal and business emails such as Google, Yahoo, POP3, IMAP, and Exchange ActiveSync support.

My Time Comes To An End: Palm Pre Plus

Tomorrow marks the last day of my Palm Pre Plus posts. My obligation to tell you about this phone will have ended and at that time I can do whatever I want with the phone. I can throw it away. I can sell it. I can "retire" it and bring back my BlackBerry. Guess what I'm going to do?

Anyone want to buy a lightly used BlackBerry? Heck yeah I'm keeping my Palm. You couldn't pay me to sell it, trash it, or give it away. I love the slide out keyboard because I'm not much good at typing on touchscreens. I love that you can rotate the phone for a nice wide viewing area. I love the magnetic charger. I love the easy navigation system. I love that it has saved my butt a number of times with the mobile hotspot wi-fi. I also love the fact that it doesn't freeze up all the time like my BlackBerry did and that the 16G of memory is on board memory allowing me to download apps to my hearts content.

Palm Pre Plus: Never Get Lost Again

Last year I bought a GPS unit for $150 and this year my maps expired. I went online to download the new maps, but it was going to cost me $79.99. That would mean I spent almost $230 for a GPS unit whose maps are only updated whenever I have an extra $80 laying around....never. I found out that my Palm Pre Plus has VZ Navigator a GPS service offered by Verizon with up-to-date maps. The cost? $9.99 a month...a huge savings!
The VZ Navigator® has some really cool features that my GPS lacked, such as local traffic and a bunch of other things you can check out here.

From their site:
"VZ Navigator provides all the features of an advanced navigation system on your mobile phone at a fraction of the price of other Global Positioning Services (GPS) devices and systems. VZ Navigator provides: heads-up, voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions (with auto-rerouting if you miss a turn); local search of nearly fourteen million points of interest (POIs) in the U.S.A.; and detailed color maps that can be quickly panned and zoomed. With VZ Navigator you will know where you are, know what's around you, and know how to get there."

One of my favorite things about the Palm Pre Plus is that it has a long list of features that are all really easy to use. What's your favorite?

Mamavation Monday: Earth Footwear

Today's Mamavation Monday post is dedicated to Earth Footwear. They were a very important part of my weight loss as a Mamavation Mom. I wore my shoes everyday and burned more calories because of it. If you haven't heard of them before they have a unique technology called Kalsø® Negative Heel Technology®. It puts your foot at a slight incline and gives you more burn, tone, and help strengthening. I have a chance to win another pair (never too many) for including them in this post, but I would have done it anyway. You should check them out.

It isn't too late to apply to be the next Mamavation Mom even though this week we will be narrowing down the applicants to 5 finalists. I am glad that decision is not mine. I couldn't choose. All the women are great and I look forward to mentoring one of them on their journey. It's very exciting. Tonight we will hear from the applicants about their goals. It will be their first time to go live on Mamavation Monday. Good luck ladies.

My personal journey:

I think we need a Post-Mamavation Mom support group. When the campaign ends it is almost as much shock as when it starts. I am seriously considering starting a support group for the moms when they are done. I'll explain the changes and feelings in my next post, but wanted to throw that out there...

Successes: I have been able to maintain my weight loss by losing another pound. I'm good with that because I took some time "off" after my campaign ended.

Challenges: Time is never on my side and juggling diet, fitness, blog, social network, and work are always a challenge. I have accepted the fact that they always will be, but it is my obligation to make time for it all.

Immediate Goal: This week I will get back on the treadmill. I will consume at least 64 oz of water (haven't made it there in a while). Those are my baby steps. What are yours?

My Frigidaire - Filters, Filters, Everywhere!

Today's feature are the filters on my Frigidaire.

Our family drinks A LOT of water.  We went through about 3 cases a week before getting our Frigidaire Professional 22.6 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Refrigerator  and since I stopped buying soda I'm sure we would double that now.  The PureSource Ultra filter on our water makes the taste crisper, cleaner, and more fresh than tap water.  I don't worry about what is in the water my family is drinking anymore.

The second awesome feature is the PureAir Ultra air filter.  I have 3 males in this house who can't, for the life of them, remember to cover up the food they put in the fridge.  The PureAir air filter does a wonder on odors.  It is small and unobtrusive and I don't have to worry about knocking over a box of banking soda, let alone the  space I save not having it sitting on the shelves.

Palm Pre Plus: I Tweet, You Tweet, We All Tweet

I am a twitterholic. I love that I have the capability to tweet on my Palm Pre Plus from anywhere at any time.

I love social media apps.  I think I have every one there is in the Palm App Catalog.  It is one of the many features I love and you can check out the apps here on their app site.

From their site:
"Applications designed for the Palm® webOS™ platform make your phone more powerful, more useful, and more fun. And many take advantage of the Palm Synergy™ feature, allowing you to do more with just a touch. Automatically add an event date to your calendar. Share location information in one step. Both free and paid apps expand what you can do."

You will find everything from Guitar Hero to Forbes Intelligent Investing and if you have children you can always download Balloon Pop.  I have that app for my son because it is so easy and fun it keeps  him entertained on long drives...

Palm Pre Plus: Convenient Charging a Must Have from Verizon

I've had my Palm now for a couple weeks and so far haven't had any problems other than battery life.  I'm a pretty heavy user though, so I might not be the norm.  I have 5 email accounts that go to my Palm (so very convenient!) and a ton of social media applications that I use regularly.  I also just added Google Voice to my phone because it doesn't have Virtual Voicemail, but now with Google Voice, I don't need it.  Oh and I talk when I drive (on a hands-free Jabra, of course) so that is about an hour of continuous talk time draining my battery first thing every day.

My Palm Pre Plus has an awesome accessory called the Touchstone Standalone Inductive Desktop Charger.  I'm lazy.  I admit it.  I hate plugging in my phone to charge.  This charger is different because there is nothing to plug in.  You put your phone on the part in the picture that says "palm" and it is held there magnetically.  That's all there is to it.  Lay down your phone and it charges.  Awesome?  Heck yeah!  I actually own two of them; one for home and one for my office.  Who wants one?

The Babies Are Coming On Mother's Day - I'm So Excited!

Did I get your attention? My brother in-law (Jeff) and his wife (Sabrina) just found out they are going to have a baby and I'm so excited for them.  For me, my baby days are pretty much over (much to my husband's dismay).  Even though I don't want any more kids (I'm 43), I do absolutely love babies.  I love their innocence.  I love how they explore everything around them and look at it with such intensity.  I love their curiosity. I love how they smell.  I love their tiny little feet.  I could go on and on...

On Mother's Day the movie BABIES will hit the theaters and I am hoping that Jeff will bring Sabrina to see it.  I plan on being there.  I think once you watch this clip you will probably be there too.  I would consider this more of a documentary.  It is about the first year of life of four babies from different parts of the world.  The story line goes from birth until age one.

The Cast (Babies):
1. Hattie from San Francisco, California
2. Bayar from Bayanchandmani, Mongolia
3. Mari from Tokyo, Japan
4. Ponijao from Opuwo, Namibia

I think my favorite baby is Ponijao.  Isn't she a cutie?  Who do you like?

Disclaimer: I am posting this as part of a Buzz Campaign since I am a Buzz Agent, but once I actually watched this I would have done it even if there was not a chance I might win some baby supplies for my new niece or nephew-to-be.

Palm Pre Plus: Applications at a Touch

One of my favorite things about my new Palm Pre Plus is how easy it is to access the applications.  Unlike many smartphones the Palm allows you to run several applications at once.  This feature has come in handy plenty of times over the past couple weeks.

In order to move from one application to another all you have to do is touch the screen and move one out of the way.  Verizon has a very cool Palm Pre Plus emulator that you should try. It is amazing all the things you can discover.  I learn something new every day with my phone.

I Had A Cheap Date With Blockbuster Express

I was recently challenged to have a cheap date for under $25 by Blockbuster Express.  Have you ever heard of Blockbuster Express?  I never did until recently.  Next time you are in the grocery store look around to see if you see something that looks like this...
It is a Blockbuster Express kiosk.  You can rent a movie after checking out of the grocery store for $1.  Yes, just $1!  Our closest Blockbuster Express was located in our local Publix.  (I have walked by it a million times, but never noticed it.)  I was able to find the nearest location by going online to blockbusterexpress.com.  While online I quickly made an account and entered my credit card information to pick out my movie.  It's very convenient to "order" your movie from home using the site because you already know what is available and what isn't.  We got Law Abiding Citizen, one of the new releases.

Since I was already in Publix I picked up a sub from their deli and some Asian chicken tenders and potato salad for the hubby.  I made them both meals and included drinks.  Cost?  Fifteen dollars.  It was $15 well spent too because I didn't have to cook and there would be no dirty dishes after we ate - now that is my kind of date!

After paying for our dinner I stepped up to the kiosk.  I expected it to be a hassle with different touch screens and buttons, but it was truly easy.  I had a choice of different options...

I could rent, pick up, return, or get my options in Spanish - I chose pick up.  I was then prompted to swipe my credit card that I set my account up with earlier, online.  After a couple swipes (the machine reads slowly) I was prompted again to get the movie I chose.  I hit the button and out popped Law Abiding Citizen.  The entire process took less than 3 minutes.

The movie was great, if you are an action movie fan and I highly recommend it.  We had a nice time snuggling on the couch watching it and it was nearly perfect - CHEAP - and no dishes to wash!

Blockbuster Express wants you to experience their new kiosk.  They have provided a code for my readers to rent one movie and get a second rental free (when rented at the same time).

CODE: 135G13B
Code is valid thru 3/31/2010. When you rent a movie at the regular price, you'll receive the first night's rental on a second movie FREE. Extra night charges and taxes apply. May not be combined with any other offer. Rental terms and conditions apply. Not valid at Blockbuster store locations.

I was provided a gift card to facilitate this review from Blockbuster Express due to my affiliation with Collective Bias.

My Frigidaire Powerplus Freeze Function

I'm a pretty busy person as many of you know, therefore I tend to power shop when I make it to the grocery store. I buy a lot of meat and frozen foods to fill my freezer for two weeks at a time. It puts a lot of strain on a normal freezer to freeze that much food without dropping the temperature and risking defrosting what is already frozen.

One of my favorite functions of my Frigidaire Professional Gallery Refrigerator is the Powerplus Freeze. It allows you to "quick-freeze meat, poultry, produce and dairy products to lock in flavor and minimize the risk of spoilage. The freezer runs colder for 12 hours to achieve -6 degrees Fahrenheit."

Here are some of the freezer specifics:
  1. Fixed Door Bins: 2 clear
  2. Fixed Shelves: 2 Glass SpillSafe®
  3. Full-freezer Baskets: 1
  4. Half-freezer Baskets: 1
  5. Freezer Lighting: Standard
  6. SpaceSaver™ Shelf: Yes
  7. Tilt-out Wire Door Bins: 2

Since my weight loss / healthy lifestyle change started in January there are certain things I have became very aware of such as the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. Finding out it was a healthy, whole grain choice was a bonus.

Hersheys #BetterBasket Blog Hop - Come check out the basket!

I hope you will watch my whrrl story about how my boys and I went shopping and put together an Easter Basket compliments of Walmart's exclusive Hershey line in time for the holiday.  It was fun - it was chocolate!  The best part?  We get to donate our basket to the charity of our choice.

Palm Pre Plus: On the Go Convenience

I am a busy mom.  I work FT outside the home.  I blog.  I own a social network for review bloggers, companies, and PR.  This past week with my Palm Pre Plus has cut HOURS out of my schedule.

How you ask?  Well, the biggest time saver for me this week was when my internet went out on Monday morning.  Everyday before I go to work I spend about two hours going through emails, setting up posts, uploading pictures to my computer, and other tasks. Sunday night our cable went out and when I got up Monday our internet was still down.  I began to panic, but then I remembered that my Palm had Mobile Hotspot!  All I had to do was click the app and set a password and I was instantly connected.  It was fast and painless.  No one else was awake, but I could have supported both my son's and my husband's laptops internet if needed through my Palm.

Disclaimer: This opportunity to review/report on my experience with the Palm Pre Plus was made possible by Verizon. I was given a Palm Pre Plus for my review/report, but my opinion on the phone/Verizon is my own.

CLOSED: Staying Healthy with Horizon Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk Giveaway

    CONGRATULATIONS NANNYPANPAN AND JC
As many of you know I have just finished up the Mamavation campaign and lost 30 lbs. I've also made some healthy changes to my families diet. One thing I have incorporated is Horizon Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk with DHA Omega-3.

Children (and adults) love chocolate milk and I don't want to deprive my family of all that is yummy. However, I do have choices. I prefer my family to eat/drink as much organic products as possible because they are much healthier for you and don't contain all those things that I cannot pronounce. The added benefit is the Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)Omega-3(a fatty acid) in Horizon is great for the brain, heart and eyes! There is a lot of research that supports this too.

The flavor? My children LOVE it! I was skeptical at first, but they didn't even realize it was different and that it was healthier for them. I was brought up on whole milk and chocolate syrup and I want to give my children options that are healthier so that they don't have weight/health problems when they get to be my age.

Here is some interesting information for the adults out there:

Chocolate Milk is an Effective Post-Exercise Recovery Beverage
    · A 2006 study showed that low fat milk was as effective at post-exercise rehydration as sports drinks
    · Because of the natural carb:pro ratio in flavored milks, low fat chocolate milk is an effective post-exercise recovery beverage.
o The appropriate carb:pro ratio for improving endurance performance is about 4:1 However, effective ranges can vary from 2:1 and up to 5:1.
    · Consuming carbohydrate and protein post workout has been shown to:
    o Enhance muscle glycogen formation
o Promote a hormonal environment that encourages muscle growth
    o Promote muscle protein production
o May lessen immune-suppressive effects due of intense exercise

GIVEAWAY: TWO lucky winners will receive a 2 coupons each for FREE Horizon Organic Lowfat Chocolate Milk and 2 coupons each for $1 off. Entry: Visit Horizon's site and tell me something you learn. Leave a comment below with your contact information.
